While July 4th is historically known as American Independence Day, it wasn't until 89 years later on June 19 that the last slaves were freed. For this reason, D’IYANU celebrates Independence Day on Juneteenth! In celebration of the jubilation, our limited edition Power Collection goes live on Friday, June 18th. We hope this collection will inspire unity and your boldest love for self, and others. Shop any item on Diyanu.com this Juneteenth and we’ll donate 19% of all sales to both the Boys & Girls Club of Philadelphia, and the National Urban League. Both organizations have been selected for their tangible work in the improvement and economic development of the African American Community.
Our donation and on-going commitment to the Boys & Girls Club of Philadelphia will benefit youth in the Philly area in need of social and academic resources. During Covid school closings, the Boys & Girls Club supported working families and those without the financial means or time to support virtual learning. This year’s donation to the National Urban League will contribute to initiatives concerning police reform, academic scholarships, economic development and legal efforts towards civil rights, justice and equality.
Thank you for being a part of the D’IYANU family and for joining us in giving back! You can learn more about the history of Juneteenth in our blog Everything You Need to Know About Juneteenth.
